Ordering skeletal testing of minor defendant

Police told the court that 28 live bullets were recovered from the accused. In this case, a custodial interrogation is required to obtain information about the entire incident and to prevent any further incidents from occurring. Police said ten teams have been set up to investigate the case and two of them are still wanted.

The court remanded Singh to police custody till October 21 while ordering a skeletal test to ascertain Kashyap’s age. The court directed the police to summon Kashyap again after the trial, after which it will be decided whether proceedings against him will be held in a regular court or a juvenile court. At the beginning of the remand application hearing, Kashyap told the court that he was 17 years old and therefore a minor.

However, the police told the court that the Aadhaar card recovered from their possession showed his age as 21. Police also said they had not seized any other documents proving Kashyap’s age.

Thereafter, the court stopped the proceedings and asked the prosecution to produce the relevant Aadhaar card. Police showed a photo of the card taken from an officer’s cell phone. The court asked the defense to confirm whether the information provided on the Aadhaar card was correct. Defense attorneys said that information was correct.

The police said they were seeking a 14-day remand for the two accused, who had stayed in Mumbai and Pune for several days before the shooting and needed to find out who funded them.

Police told the court it was necessary to investigate how the pair obtained the weapons and vehicles used in the crimes and who gave them shooting training. Prosecutors said the man killed was not an ordinary person but a former security minister, but they managed to shoot him.
