According to police sources, NCP leader Baba Siddiqui was shot at by one of the accused named Shiva Kumar Gautam. Who is still absconding. The accused fired six shots at Baba Siddiqui. Besides Baba Siddiqui, another worker was also shot in the leg.
“Trying to kill people with pepper spray”
Sources said the defendant was carrying pepper spray. The accused wanted to kill Baba by spraying him but before that Shiva fired as the spray was on Dharamraj Kashyap. Currently, these people have been detained by the police.
“No special category of security”
Police sources also revealed that Baba Siddiqui did not have any special category of security but three police personnel were with him to ensure safety. He was also with them yesterday but there was nothing he could do during the incident. Another worker was shot in the leg.
It was previously reported that the fourth accused in the Baba Siddiqui murder case has been identified. The police arrested two accused named Gurmel Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap. Two of the accused, Shiva Kumar and Mohammad Jashin Akhtar, are absconding and Mumbai police has formed 10 teams to nab them. Meanwhile, the district court has sent Gurmel Singh to police custody till October 21. Ossification tests will be conducted to ascertain the true age of Dharamraj Kashyap, who claims to be a minor. The courts have approved this.
Meanwhile, NCP leader Baba Siddiqui was shot dead in Mumbai late on Saturday night. He was shot with multiple bullets in Bandra East and was hit in the chest and abdomen. He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in critical condition. He was on his way to the office of his son Zeshan Siddiqui when the attack occurred. The police immediately took action on the case and arrested two people, and are currently searching for one of them.
