War could break out between Samajwadi Party and Congress ahead of BJP by-elections, seat-sharing talks underway

In view of the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress and Samajwadi Party are having heated discussions on ticket allocation. The Congress party’s defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections gave the Samajwadi Party an opportunity to increase its dominance and the political landscape changed accordingly. The SP has announced candidates for six of the 10 seats, including Phulpur and Mazhavan, which the Congress is eyeing.

These by-elections are important for the Congress as they hope to once again boost the party’s chances of regaining its lost credibility in Uttar Pradesh. State Congress chief Ajay Rai proposed that the Congress contest five seats where the BJP is weak in the 2022 assembly elections. However, the SP has fielded candidates for both seats.

“Our workers and leaders may be disappointed with our performance in Haryana, but our goal in Uttar Pradesh is very clear – jungle rule,” said Avinash Pandey, general secretary of the party and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh. It has to end.” Political experts said the SP is likely to offer the Meerapur and Khair seats to the Congress, keeping the alliance intact.

Akhilesh is in a mood to maintain the alliance!

SP President Akhilesh Yadav also stressed on keeping the alliance strong. Ajay Rai said that the common goal of both parties is to end the “jungle rule” of the BJP, and the public will respond to this.

Election date has not yet been announced

The dates for the upcoming by-elections are yet to be announced, but these discussions and strategies will have a long-awaited impact on politics in Uttar Pradesh. This dialogue between Congress and the Socialist Party will also be a major preparation for the 2027 parliamentary elections. However, if seen, the SP believes its position is secure in Uttar Pradesh, which could escalate tensions with the Congress.
