The BJP will hold a high-level meeting in Delhi tomorrow where JP Nadda-Amit Shah will participate in discussions on by-elections to 10 seats in UP.

10 assembly seats in UP will go to by-elections. However, the Election Commission has not yet announced the date for the by-election. But the political temperature in the state has begun to rise. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party, which are in power in the state, mainly face each other. This round of meetings between leaders of the two parties is underway. Meanwhile, the BJP will hold a high-level meeting on the by-elections in Delhi on Sunday, October 13. Ticket distribution and many other issues may be discussed at this meeting.

According to sources, the BJP hopes to make up for its losses in the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha election by winning 10 seats in the by-elections. The party does not want to leave any room for this. To this end, the BJP convened a major meeting in Delhi on Sunday. It is reported that party presidents JP Nadda and Amit Shah will attend the meeting. Apart from this, UP BJP president Bhupendra Chaudhary, CM Yogi Adityanath and deputy CMs Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya will also be included.

Let us tell you that the by-elections will be held in Karhal, Milkypur, Katehari, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Meerapur, Phulpur, Manjhwa and Sisamau in the state. Among them, the Samajwadi Party has 5 seats, the RLD-Nishad Party has 1 seat each, and the Bharatiya Janata Party has 3 seats. But given the way the Samajwadi Party surprised the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, these by-elections are seen as a litmus test for Yogi Adityanath.

BJP’s concerns may grow over seat equation

The by-elections to 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh could be decisive for the politics of the state and the country, as it was Uttar Pradesh that strengthened the BJP’s majority governments in 2014 and 2019. But in the 2024 elections, the BJP’s weakness in the coalition puts it further and further behind the majority party. In this scenario, the BJP has an opportunity through these by-elections to break the perception of the Lok Sabha and galvanize workers. However, the equation for these seats is enough to add to the worries of the BJP.

The BJP faces many challenges in every seat

Among the 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh where by-elections will be held, the Bharatiya Janata Party faces many challenges. The second difficult seat for the BJP after the Akhilesh Yadav riots is Kundarki in Moradabad. Samajwadi Party’s Ziaur Rehman becomes Kundarki MLA in the 2022 assembly elections. He was elected as MP from Sambhal seat in the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP succeeded only once, in the 1993 Kundalji Assembly.

In this parliament, the Muslim vote was about 65% and the Hindu vote was about 35%. Apart from this, Kanpur West Samau seat has fallen vacant due to the conviction of Samajwadi Party MP Irfan Solanki. This is one of the strong seats of the Samajwadi Party and this time the SP can give its ticket to someone from the Irfan Solanki family. At the same time, the sympathy for Irrfan is also evident and hence this seat is one of the difficult ones for the BJP.
