70th National Awards: Dadasaheb Phalke Award goes to Mithun Chakraborty, a three-time National Award winner

The 70th edition of India’s prestigious and most respected National Awards ceremony was held today at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. At this awards ceremony, the best films from the film industry and their cast and crew are recognized for their hard work. The award was announced in August. Neena Gupta, Rishabh Shetty, Sooraj Barjatya and Nithya Menen were among many stars who arrived in Delhi to attend the award ceremony and received the award. The honor was personally handed over to all the stars by the country’s President Draupadi Murmu.

The National Award is considered the greatest achievement for any film personality. This award is awarded to films that have received a censorship certificate from the Film Censorship Board between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022.

Mithun’s contribution is commendable

This time, Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty also received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the award ceremony. He was honored by President Draupadi Murmu. This was recently announced. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself praised the actor’s contribution to cinema. His journey is very inspiring.

After receiving the award, Mithun also talked about his journey. He said: “When I won the National Award, I started imagining myself as Al Pacino, and then I was stimulated and I became smart. I had something to listen to because of my skin color.” This blackness is said to not work in Bollywood. I used to think what to do, I used to say to God, oh God, what should I do with this color, I can’t change it. So I thought I would dance with my feet, and I danced with my feet so much that people didn’t notice my feet. From that day on, I transformed into a sexy, dark-skinned Bengali babu.

I have complained to God a lot. But after receiving this award today, I no longer complain. I just said thanks. I would tell newcomers to never lose courage and never stop dreaming. Fall asleep yourself, but never let your dreams fall asleep. If I can be something, then you can be something.

Let us tell you that Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav took to social media platforms to announce that Mithun da’s journey has inspired every generation. I am honored to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Jury has decided to honor Mithun Chakraborty for his significant contribution to Indian cinema.

Mithun, who has been active in the film industry for 74 years, won the National Award for Best Actor in 1977 for his debut film Mrigya. Mithun has done more than 350 films so far. These include movies in Hindi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Punjabi.

I always say, when I’ve done theater my whole life, I always say, once I get this, life is blessed. Today, by the grace of God, I have received the title of Gulmohar for the fourth time. I consider myself a very lucky artist at this time to have won the National Award for the fourth time. It is a blessing for me that my wife is attending the National Awards for the fourth time.
