There may be light to moderate rain in some places before the monsoon leaves Delhi. IMD scientist Dr Naresh said winds from the Bay of Bengal are blowing towards the Delhi National Capital Region and hence there is a possibility of light rain tonight. Light rain is also likely to occur in Delhi on September 26 and 27. Thereafter, rainfall activity will cease and the weather will become pleasant. In addition, affected by strong winds from the Bay of Bengal, there may be light to moderate rain in Himachal Pradesh and heavy rain in many places in Uttarakhand in the next 1-2 days.

Clouds will rain in Delhi

Delhi-NCR has been hot and humid for the past few days. However, the weather in Delhi is expected to change from today. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain in Delhi tonight. This period of rain is likely to continue until September 28. Light to moderate rain is likely in Delhi during this period. After this, the monsoon is likely to leave Delhi. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to remain between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius throughout the week, while the minimum temperature is likely to be around 23 to 27 degrees Celsius.

Delhi hotter than usual this week

According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, dry weather has prevailed in the capital over the past six days. The weather has been very hot in the past two days, with temperatures about 3-4 degrees Celsius higher than normal. The Safdarjung base station recorded a new high of 37.4 degrees Celsius yesterday, higher than the previous day’s maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius. The temperature has continued to rise in the past four days, exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, and the humidity has also continued to be high. Temperatures will follow a similar trend even today and temperatures will drop thereafter. Showers are likely over the next four days, with most days being light and scattered except for one or two days.

The monsoon trough is located south of Delhi with friction heights of 3,000 feet or more. Cyclonic circulation over the western trough and the northern border areas of Pakistan and Punjab is pulling the trough northward. From Delhi to Haryana and on to the foothills of Punjab, it is forming north and south bulges and bends. The approach of Dronika and the passage of the western system will trigger the rainy season between September 25 and 28, although the rain will not be very strong.

Between September 26 and 28, the temperature in Delhi will stop rising and drop to a low of 30 degrees. In addition to sporadic rainfall, there are occasional thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds. Both weather systems will disappear on Sunday, September 29 and the weather will remain sunny. There will be dry, strong northwest winds. Therefore, the temperature will increase again and the humidity will decrease. This suggests that the monsoon may disappear by the first week of October.
