A shameful case of molestation of a nursing student at gunpoint occurred in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. A construction worker and his companion molested a nursing student at a university at gunpoint, local police said Tuesday.
Additional Superintendent of Police of Shahjahanpur district Sanjay Kumar said after learning about the incident, one accused has been arrested while the other is still absconding. The search for him is ongoing.
Giving information about the matter, ASP Sanjay Kumar told PTI that the student was a resident of Jalalabad police station area and was studying nursing in a college in Chowk Kotwali area. Even on Monday, she was present at her college as usual.
According to ASP reports, tile contractor Suresh Kumar (35) and his partner Anmol caught the student in the college toilet on Monday and molested her . During this time, when the student tried to protest and shout, Suresh shut up and pointed a gun at her.
Despite this, the students did not lose courage. She showed courage and bit Suresh’s hand before running out of the bathroom screaming. Hearing the screams of the victim girl, staff and other students from the School of Nursing rushed to the scene.
Seeing the men coming towards them, both the accused got frightened and started running away, but Suresh was caught by the people present. After receiving the information, a police team reached the spot, took Suresh into custody and took him to the police station, ASP said.
ASP Sanjay Kumar said an FIR has been registered against the two accused under sections of the Indian Judicial Code relating to attempt to murder and obscenity. Further action is now being taken. The absconding accused Anmol is being searched.
