The incident occurred around 12:30 late at night. The old passenger suddenly fainted in his seat. The condition of an elderly person is such that he needs immediate medical attention. Four trainee nurses from Fortis Escorts in Okhla also traveled in the same box. Seeing the condition of the old man on the train, he immediately performed his duties. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on the old man. The nurses used the basic life support training they received at Fortis to save the lives of passengers.

The four nurses, Suman, Shreya Das, Uma Manna and Shri Sibsankar Giri, after completing their training from Kolkata Returning to Delhi on Rajdhani Express. When he saw an elderly passenger unconscious on the train, he immediately checked on him. Uma saw that the old man was no longer breathing and his pulse had disappeared. She immediately worked with other nurses to put the old man down from his seat and began to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Meanwhile, a nurse pulled the train’s emergency chain, causing the train to stop at Kanpur Junction. As soon as the train stopped, the medical team present arranged to take the old man to the hospital.
Witnessing all this, the passengers praised the nurse’s move. One passenger said that if these nurses had not provided timely help, the passenger’s life might not have been saved.
Talking about the incident, Uma Mannar said – When we saw the deteriorating condition of our fellow passengers, we immediately conducted training. The BLS training we received at Fortis taught us how to save patients’ lives in emergency situations.
