Indian festivals are about to begin. E-commerce companies have begun to prepare for this. This also includes companies such as Flipkart and Amazon that have announced sales. Many attractive offers can also be seen advertised during these sales. Somewhere there is an offer to get an iPhone for Rs 1 and somewhere there is an offer to buy other expensive items at a cheaper price.

Seeing such advertisements, customers log into these e-commerce websites in large numbers. Meanwhile, many consumers have also complained on social media that such ads are misleading. Now the government is also paying close attention to advertising on e-commerce.

Secretary-General of the Union Consumer Department introduced the situation

Union consumer ministry secretary Nidhi Khare, while responding to a question from Aaj Tak on the matter, said such complaints were received. E-commerce companies are making incredible claims. When customers placed their order, they were told shipping costs were added in error and the discount ended abruptly. We are monitoring these complaints closely and will take action.

Customers can complain like this

If consumers see such misleading advertisements on e-commerce websites, they can lodge a complaint with the Union Consumer Ministry Complaint Portal.

Many websites are doing this kind of work

There are many websites that list expensive and attractive items at low prices. For the holiday season, we are working on selling merchandise in different ways. In some places, the focus is on EMI, so the main price is not visible at the beginning. Consumers are stuck considering the EMI amount as a one-time payment. When they went to make the final payment, they realized what had happened.

Promises to sell iPhone for Rs 1

Some people complained on social media that the e-commerce website promised to sell iPhones at a price of Re 1, but when they placed pre-orders, the product was declared sold out.

Despite this, many e-commerce websites are still trying to sell products by providing numbers like 1 rupee multiplied by 99, and the government ministry secretary has said action will be taken against this.
