The world’s largest Rewa Ultra Mega solar project in Madhya Pradesh has been listed as a case study by the world’s most renowned Harvard University. Excellent management, operations and solar production of solar parks and factories are being taught as examples. The Rewa Ultra-Large Solar Power Plant is not only the largest power plant in the world, but also one of the world’s cheapest to produce commercial energy. From here, power will be provided at Rs 3.30 per unit for the next 25 years.

Madhya Pradesh has abundant solar energy. The sunshine here lasts for more than 300 days. It is the first solar project in the country to be funded by the World Bank’s Clean Technology Fund. Today, half of the world’s 10 largest solar projects are located in India. Rewa Solar Power Plant is one of them.

How did it start?
The Indian government launched the solar park program in 2014. Its goal is to promote solar energy. In this plan, solar projects with a capacity of more than 500 MW are included in solar parks and they are called ultra-large solar parks. Case studies show that India has an estimated 406,700 square meters of barren land. It can be used to build solar power plants. In Madhya Pradesh, 1,579 hectares of land were assessed, including 1,255 hectares of wasteland and 384 hectares of private land. The construction of the Rewa Solar ultra-large solar power plant began.

Interesting solar farm tour
The trip to Rewa Solar Power Plant was interesting. The project started in June 2014 with the allocation of 275 hectares of land in Badwar village. In April 2015, the state government approved the establishment of the Rewa ultra-large solar power plant. Two months later, Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited was established as a 50-50% joint venture with Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation and SECI. Thereafter, 981 hectares of land were allotted to villages such as Barwar, Barseta Desh, Barseta Pahad, Itar Pahad, Ramnagar Pahad and others. By 2018-19, wasteland in more villages was allocated for the project. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation started supplying electricity in April 2019. Full commercial production will begin in January 2020.

Rewa solar project included in case study

The world’s largest Rewa solar project has been built and launched. This project has been listed as a case study by Harvard University in the United States. On the other hand, the world’s largest floating solar project of 600 MW is also being developed at Omkareshwar on the Narmada river, the lifeblood of the state. Apart from this, many large and small solar projects are being constructed in various parts of the state.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that at the recent National Renewable Energy Summit held in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat, many industrialists expressed their desire to set up solar power plants in Madhya Pradesh. In the capital Bhopal, a campaign will be launched to encourage citizens and government buildings to install solar panels on the roofs of their homes. Through all these efforts, Madhya Pradesh is moving towards becoming a solar state.
