2024-09-25 10:58:52 The second phase of polling will be held tomorrow in 11 assembly constituencies in three districts of Jammu division, including Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts. Security arrangements are in place and polling parties will interact with electronic voting machines. (EVMs) were deputed to the polling stations along with senior officials to inspect the polling stations to ensure smooth conduct of voting.

There is currently armed activity in all three areas and security arrangements take this into account. The army has been deployed in mountainous areas for counter-terrorism operations to ensure that terrorists cannot carry out attacks, while paramilitary and police personnel have been deployed in large numbers at polling stations and general areas.
“All polling stations have been disinfected in advance and voting parties have arrived at most polling stations tonight,” officials said.
Many polling stations in the Rajouri and Poonch border districts are close to the Line of Control and although no firings have been reported for quite some time in the past, contingency plans have always been in place for these polling stations.
Since India and Pakistan renewed their agreement on February 25, 2021, ceasefire violations between the two countries have been very rare.
On June 9, Raisi district witnessed a brutal terrorist attack on a bus transporting pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple in Teryath village, resulting in the death of nine people, including seven pilgrims, while Rajouri and Poonch districts There have been more than a dozen major terrorist attacks since then. In October 2021, more than 35 security personnel and 8 civilians were killed.
