Drona Desai News: 18-year-old Drona Desai entered the history books by scoring 498 runs in the Dewan Ballubhai Cup Under-19 multi-day tournament. He created chaos on the field with his innings. Drona played a brilliant innings for his St. Xavier’s School (Loyola) against JL English School at the Shivaay Cricket Stadium in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

Drona Desai faced 320 balls in the marathon, including 7 sixes and 86 fours. According to the Indian Express, the annual tournament is organized by the Ahmedabad Cricket Central Committee, a subsidiary of the Gujarat Cricket Association.

Desai said after the race that he was disappointed that he missed the 500-run mark because he had no idea he was so close to the record. Desai said – There was no scoreboard on the court and my team did not tell me that my batting score was 498. I hit one and got off the field, but I am happy that I was able to score.

Drona said, I started playing cricket at the age of seven and my father put a lot of pressure on me because he felt I had the potential to become a good cricketer. He took me to meet Mr. JP (Jaiprakash Patel), who has coached more than 40 cricketers. From grade 8 to grade 12, I went to school just for exams. I just keep playing cricket and hope that one day I can make myself famous.

With Drona Desai’s innings, his team defeated JL English School by an innings and 712 runs. Desai, the team’s third-order batsman, has played for the Gujarat under-14 side and is now hoping to earn a spot in the state’s under-19 side. He said he was inspired to take up the game after watching Sachin Tendulkar’s batting.

Pranab Dhanawade once scored 1009 not out

Desai became only the sixth batsman in the country to score such a huge score. Earlier, Mumbai’s Pranav Dhanawade (1009 not out), Prithvi Shaw (546), Dr Hawala (515), Chamanlal (506 not out) and Aman Jha F (498) is the batsman who scores the most runs per innings.

In January 2016, while playing for KC Gandhi School in the Bhandari Cup, Pranav hit 129 fours and 59 sixes in an innings of 327 balls against Arya Gurukul (CBSE). This was the highest score ever scored in a school championship (most runs per innings – in all minor cricket). He played this innings in Kalyan (Mumbai).
