Vinesh Phogat said that after the 2024 Olympics, circumstances forced me to take this decision (to contest elections). People ask me to stand up for them, their children, and to keep the warrior in me alive.

“My decision is related to the ongoing fight for justice following protests by high-profile wrestlers,” Vinesh said. Despite the difficulties they faced, they failed to achieve results.

Let us tell you that Vinesh Phogat was one of the top wrestlers who took to the streets to protest against former Indian Wrestling Federation president Brij Bhushan Singh. Many female wrestlers have accused Brij Bhushan of sexual harassment.

Vinesh Phogat said, We fight in the streets. What do we have? All we got was name-calling and insults. I went to the Olympics. Did I get justice? there is nothing. We never got justice. Entering politics is not a choice, but a necessity.
