In the Karnataka Mysore Urban Development Authority case (MUDA scam case), state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been dealt a serious blow by the Karnataka High Court, which has approved the filing of a case against him. Karnataka is following the path taken by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Apparently, according to Delhi, calls for Siddaramaiah’s resignation have also begun. Now, it remains to be seen whether Siddaramaiah follows the path of his predecessor chief minister Yediyurupa or resigns following the path of former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal established two trends in Indian politics. The chief minister can continue to hold office even after being arrested. Even after leaving the second term as chief minister, people can retain control of the state throne by retaining Kadam.

1- Why is it compared with Arvind Kejriwal model?

Now that the court has approved the prosecution, the question is whether Siddaramaiah will resign or continue in office like Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The second question is, if a case is filed, which agency will investigate. State government agencies or CBI, there are many such issues.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s reaction after court ordered inquiry. She resembles Arvind Kejriwal. Targeting the BJP and JDS, Siddaramaiah said this is a political fight. The people of the country are with me. I believe that in the next few days the truth will come out and the investigation will be dropped. Arvind Kejriwal had also made similar remarks demanding his resignation as Delhi chief minister.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also made Prime Minister Narendra his main target, just like Arvind Kejriwal. “This is a fight against the vendetta politics of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government,” Ramaiah said. “Our judicial fight will continue against this vendetta politics of the BJP and JDS.” I believe in the courts. All MLAs, party leaders and workers and the Congress high command are firmly by my side and encourage me to continue my fight for the law. The BJP and the JDS took political revenge against me because I was a supporter of the poor and fought for social justice. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Modi government hopes to oust opposition governments across the country.

2- Maintain CM even after being imprisoned

In 2011, a Bharatiya Janata Party government was formed in Karnataka, with BS Yediyurappa serving as the chief minister of Karnataka. Yediyurappa, who was caught up in an illegal mining scam, has been accused of land fraud by two lawyers from Karnataka. It was centered around the UPA government at that time. The governor is Congress member Hansraj Bhardwaj. Bhardwaj also gave immediate permission to hear the case and conduct an investigation. However, Arvind Kejriwal’s formula was not available till then. After getting the governor’s permission, Lokayutta took action against Yediyurappa. First, the Lokayukta issued an arrest warrant against Yediyurappa and then his bail was denied.

Just before he was about to be jailed, Yediyurappa resigned as chief minister at the behest of the BJP high command. He spent about a month in jail, but Siddaramaiah is unlikely to do so now.

Siddaramaiah is interpreting the legal part of the court order in his own way. He said the order issued by the Governor under Section 218 was completely rejected. The justices limited themselves to the provisions of Section 17A of the governor’s order. I would consult an expert to see if the law allows for such an investigation. There is clearly no moral need for him to resign.

However, the Karnataka BJP demanded Siddaramaiah’s resignation. BJP president BY Vijayendra said the High Court had ruled that the Governor’s approval was legal.

3- What actions can be taken like Delhi?

If Siddaramaiah follows Arvind Kejriwal’s playbook in Karnataka, then the central agencies will surely start working as well, and if economic issues are involved too, then it will be obvious that ED will be a scam as well. So obviously the CBI will also investigate. You put in, I put in, and the Governor can also work along the lines of the Delhi Local Government.

Siddaramaiah’s lawyer is also Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Apparently, Arvind Kejriwal’s argument will also be directed against Siddaramaiah.

4- But Siddaramaiah may be forced to quit the party

But there is one thing that the Chief Minister of Karnataka cannot show the same courage as Arvind Kejriwal. In fact, Arvind Kejriwal is not only the head of the government but also the leader of a political party. That’s why his party stands behind him like a wall. But things are different here. When the Congress government in Karnataka was formed in 2023, competition for the CM post was already underway within the party and DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah were also contenders for the CM post, but he was awarded the CM post. Deputy CM. In this context, the kind of political situation that seems to be developing in Karnataka, Shivakumar’s claims may again come into focus.

Secondly, if Siddaramaiah is arrested, it may be difficult for him to retain the CM post as Congress will not allow him to remain in power as unethically as Arvind Kejriwal.
