2024-09-24 13:52:32 : Google Photos has been updated to support new video editing tools. The Mountain View-based tech giant announced new artificial intelligence (AI) editing features on Monday along with three new editing tools. The AI-powered feature will be available on Android and iOS, but the editing tools are currently only available to Android users. The features come just weeks after the company launched descriptive queries and its AI-powered “Ask Photos” feature.
The following new editing tools are currently only available to Android users. The first is an updated trim tool for cutting out certain parts of a video, useful when you only want to show a specific part of a video to your friends. With this update, users will be able to precisely cut footage down to the specific frame they like.
Another new addition is the auto-enhance button. Automatic photo enhancement improves brightness, contrast, and overall lighting to make objects appear clearer. With this update, users can color correct and stabilize videos with just one tap.
A new speed tool has also been added to Google Photos. As the name suggests, users can easily speed up or slow down the video to add interesting effects to selected frames. This way, users can add a slow-motion effect to a specific shot to increase its length and allow viewers to enjoy it for a longer period of time.
AI-powered video presets are also introduced on Android and iOS. First reported last month, the feature offers a variety of presets for specific functions such as trimming videos, adjusting lights, controlling speed, and more. Users can add presets and AI will add context-aware effects. Additionally, users can apply effects such as dynamic motion tracking of objects, zoom in on important moments or apply slow motion.
