We’ve seen multiple rumors lately about the chipsets that will power the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. Recently, the US version of the Galaxy S25 Ultra appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking website, equipped with a Snapdragon chipset. It was previously rumored that the Korean brand will equip the entire Galaxy S25 series in all markets with Exynos chipsets. Separate reports then told us that the new models in all countries are expected to feature a Snapdragon SoC.

A Samsung phone with model number SM-S938U has appeared on Geekbench. This listing is believed to be that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, similar to its predecessor Galaxy S24 Ultra with model number SM-S928U. The “U” in the model number indicates that the device is designated for use in the United States.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra scores impressive results in multi-core tests

The Geekbench listing shows that it scored 3,069 points in the single-core test and 9,080 points in the multi-core test. According to the listing, the phone may come with 10.54GB RAM, which means it may come with 12GB of storage.

Additionally, the listing suggests that an octa-core chipset codenamed “Sun” will power the phone. This codename is related to the unreleased Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. It shows two Prime CPU cores with a top clock speed of 4.19GHz and six cores with a top clock speed of 2.90GHz.

It’s worth noting that the top frequency is lower than that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is said to have a peak clock speed of 4.32GHz for the performance core and 3.53GHz for the efficiency core. However, these numbers are likely to be optimized before the final version.

The relevant Galaxy S25 Ultra version runs Android 15. This entry was uploaded to the site on September 24.

There had been speculation that Samsung would equip the Galaxy S25 series with the Exynos 2500 chipset. We later heard that the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra will use Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 globally. Samsung’s regular versions of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ this year follow a dual-chip strategy. They come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in the US and Samsung’s homegrown Exynos 2400 in most other markets like India.
