The Bangladesh government on Monday protested against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks about Bangladeshi citizens in Jharkhand and termed them “highly condemnable”. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh submitted a letter of protest to the Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka, expressing “serious objection and extreme dissatisfaction”.

Amit Shah, during his visit to Jharkhand last week, had said that if the BJP comes to power in Jharkhand, then the BJP will “hang every Bengali infiltrator upside down and give them a lesson”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that such remarks coming from a position of responsibility to the citizens of neighboring countries weaken the spirit of mutual respect and understanding between the two friendly countries.
