Organizing multiple SVEEP events in Jammu

Jammu, September 23: Jammu University today organized an election awareness event to encourage voter participation under the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign.

Jammu District Election Officer Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, ADDC Sher Singh, Deputy Commissioner Ansuya Jamwal, Nodal Officer SVEEP and ACD Jammu Dr. Vikas Sharma and other district officials were present on the occasion.

An airship took off carrying voter awareness messages, marking the start of a campaign aimed at encouraging maximum voter participation in the elections scheduled for October 1, 2024. The event also included cultural programming presented by Information Bureau artists, including inspirational songs to motivate voters to participate on Election Day.

In his speech, DEO Jammu Sachin Kumar Vaishya emphasized the importance of democratic participation and urged all citizens to exercise their right to vote. “This is an important opportunity for every eligible voter to contribute to the democratic process by voting. Let’s ensure record turnout this time,” he said.

The Jammu SSP echoed this sentiment, calling on families to come out together and vote, making Election Day a collective responsibility. ADDC Sher Singh also encouraged everyone to work towards strengthening democracy by voting and inspiring others to do the same.

Meanwhile, ADC Ansuya Jamwal urged participants to actively spread information within the community and inspire others to participate in the electoral process.

Later in the evening, a similar SVEEP event was held at Amar Mahal where DEO Jammu along with other district officials including ADDC Jammu, ADC Jammu and ACD launched another airship to mark the occasion. The DEO also assured that similar events will be organized across the district to create awareness about voting.

The event also featured a kite-flying activity, with the specially SVEEP-themed kites symbolizing the campaign’s goal of reaching every voter. Additionally, a cultural performance by DIPR artistes was organized, who performed cultural songs and encouraged voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
