Ashtami Shraddha Method
One who performs Shraddha should take a bath early in the morning and wear clean clothes. Set up seats according to the age of the ancestors. Place cakes or rice on the seat and sit facing south. On this day, water, black sesame seeds, rice and bitter sand are used to make the tray. Mix black sesame seeds into water and offer them three times in the name of your ancestors. Pind Daan is an important part of Shraddha. Pindas are made from a mixture of rice, barley flour, milk and ghee.
Thereafter, with the Panchbali ceremony, food should be offered to the Brahmins and raw grains should be donated to them. Thereafter, the Govind form of Lord Vishnu should be worshiped and then the eighth chapter of the Gita should be recited. Furthermore, one should seek forgiveness by chanting the Pitra Mantra.
Ashtami Shraddha Rules
Bottle kheer, spinach, puri, fruits and sweets along with cloves, cardamom and sweets should definitely be included in the Shraddha food of Ashtami.
