Odisha police on Monday reconstructed the crime scene of the gang rape of two minor girls in Rourkela. SP Brijesh Kumar Rai said a case has been registered at Plantsite police station under relevant sections of the Indian Judiciary Code (BNS) and the POCSO Act. He said forensic and canine teams, along with police, were at the crime scene. Hopefully we can complete the investigation soon.

Police led by Rourkela SDPO Nirmal Mohapatra went to the spot along with the accused. During this time, the crime scene was reconstructed. The SDPO said necessary procedures are being followed to understand the details of this heinous crime. We have arrested three accused. Trying to find out if anyone else was involved in this crime?

Medical examinations of the accused and the minor were conducted on Monday, police officials said. The victim’s statement will be recorded before the magistrate. All evidence collected so far will be sent to the laboratory for scientific examination. The incident took place on Saturday night when two minor girls, aged 14 and 15, were returning to the home of their close relatives living in the slum after buying shoes from the local market.

Meanwhile, on the road, some youths stopped them near Bisra Chhak. They forcibly took him in a rickshaw to a deserted place. There he made her the victim of his desires. Subsequently, the victim’s family members reported the incident to the Plantsite Police Station. Accordingly, the police opened a case and started looking for the suspect. As of Sunday, police had arrested three accused in connection with the incident.
