The STF killed the second accused in an encounter in Unnao district during a robbery at a jewelery store in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Accused Anuj Pratap Singh was killed in a gunfight with the Lucknow unit of the Special Task Force (STF) in Achalganj area around 4 am on Monday, officials said.

Let us tell you that on August 28, jewelery worth around Rs 15 crore was looted from Bharat Jewelers at Thatheri market in Achalganj police station area. Another accused in the case, Mangesh Yadav, was killed by the STF in an encounter on September 5, which also triggered political controversy. The Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress called it a fake encounter.

The STF issued a statement on what happened to the second accused, saying it received information on Sunday that Anuj Pratap Singh and an associate came to Arrived at Ganga Katri area of ​​Unnao equipped with lethal weapons. At night, the two of them would ride their motorcycles to Ray Bareilly with the looted items.

After receiving the confirmed information, the STF team from Lucknow reached the Koluhagada-Achalganj underpass on the Rae Bareli-Unnao highway at 10.45 pm on Sunday, told the STF. The city’s task force formed two teams to cordon off the scene and launch an investigation. At the same time, a motorcycle came at high speed from Kolluhagada. The informant saw the car and told the STF team that it belonged to Anuj Pratap Singh and his associates.

The STF said, “After that, we tried to stop the vehicle immediately, but the motorcyclist tried to turn the vehicle towards the unpaved road, but slipped due to grass and mud.” According to the report, when the STF team asked the accused to surrender, Anuj Anuj Pratap Singh and his associates opened fire on police officers “with intent to kill”.

“DSP Pramesh Kumar Shukla had a narrow escape and SP Ravi Verma was shot but he survived as he was wearing a bulletproof jacket,” the STF said thereafter. , in retaliatory firing, Anuj Pratap Singh was shot and fell on the roadside. The STF team rushed the accused to hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Superintendent of Police (STF and Law and Order) Amitabh Yash said Anuj Pratap Singh is a resident of Janapur village in Amethi district. His companions managed to escape. Police said a reward of Rs 1 lakh has been announced for anyone who provides information leading to his arrest.

Weapons and jewelery recovered from slain accused: SP

Meanwhile, Unnao SP Deepak Bhukar said Anuj Pratap Singh has a criminal record. Police recovered two pistols, seven empty magazines, three bullet cartridges and a bag filled with silver jewelry from his possessions.
