Now another bridge has collapsed in Bihar. Part of a bridge under construction in the capital Patna collapsed. In response, the official said no one was injured in the incident that occurred on Sunday night.

The incident came to light after more than a dozen bridges collapsed in various parts of Bihar in the past few days, the news agency reported. The collapsed under-construction bridge was part of the ‘Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Ganga Mahasetu’, which is maintained by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL). It is understood that the accident occurred when the girder bearings were being replaced. When the girder was placed on the pillars, part of it fell off.

Construction has been ongoing for the past few years

“Replacement of bearings is a routine procedure and there is no news of any casualties,” BSRDCL Chief General Manager Praveen Chandra Gupta told the news agency. “We will visit the site to inspect the ongoing work.” Construction on the bridge has reportedly been ongoing for several years.

The bridge cost over Rs 1,600 crore

Let us tell you that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 5.57-km long Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Ganga Mahasetu in June 2011. The total cost of the project was then estimated at Rs 1,602.74 crore.

Patna district magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh said, “During routine work, a beam of the bridge under construction to Bakhtiarpur collapsed” and after the completion of the project, Samasti National Highway No. 28 in Phule and National Highway No. 31 in Patna can be connected.

Tejashwi mocks government

The main objective of this bridge is to reduce the traffic load on Mahatma Gandhi Setu in Patna and Rajendra Setu in Mokama. After the bridge is completed, it will also become another important road connecting North Bihar and South Bihar.

Regarding the partial collapse of the bridge, opposition leader Tejashvi Yadav sarcastically tweeted, “This incident proves that the NDA government is based on commissions, bribery, institutional corruption, financial irregularities, illegal extortion on.” ‘Based on organized robbery.
