Uday appointed as IYC president

Former J&K State Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib has been appointed as the president of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC).

The appointment was made by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president. Malikajun Haag today. Uday Chibu currently serves as the Secretary General of the Indian Youth Congress.
He succeeds Srinivas BV from Karnataka.
Uday Bhanu Chib is the second Congress leader from J&K after Ghulam Nabi Azad held the post. Previously, Uday was still serving as the J&K state president of the National Students Union of India and secretary-general of NSUI.
He is the frontrunner for the Congress candidate in Jammu North Assembly constituency and is considered a strong contender, also occupied by his father, JKPCC vice-president Th Hari Singh Chib, and mother, former Congress MP Rajni Balla seats in this constituency. However, during the seat-sharing period with the National Congress, the party offered the seat to its National Congress candidate Ajay Sadhotra.
