The second and final match of the Test series between the two teams will be played on September 27 at Kanpur Green Park.

Rohit Sharma maintained this series

This was the 179th win for the Indian team in Test cricket. This is the first time in the 92-year Test history that India has won more matches than lost. India lost 178 out of 580 matches. A total of 222 games were tied and there was one draw. This is India’s maximum number of wins against Bangladesh. In early 2017, India won the Hyderabad Test by 208 runs.

If you look at it, this was India’s 12th win in a Test match against Bangladesh. So far, 14 Test matches have been played between the two countries. Among them, only two games were draws (2007, 2015). India dominated the remainder of the match. This means that India is yet to lose to Bangladesh in Test cricket. This trend started during Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy and has now been continued by current captain Rohit Sharma.

Let us tell you that the first Test match between India and Bangladesh was played almost 24 years ago in November 2000. The captain of the Indian team at that time was Sourav Ganguly. In that match, India won by 8 wickets. Thereafter, under Ganguly’s leadership, India defeated Bangladesh in the two-Test series in 2004. Subsequently, India also signed Rahul Dravid (2007), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (2010), Virat Kohli (2017) , 2019) and KL Rahul (2022) as captain, defeated Bangladesh.

Before this Test series, a total of 8 series were played between India and Bangladesh. Out of these 8 series, India won 7 series. The only series between the two countries was a draw in 2015. Virat Kohli is the captain of the Indian team in this series. India are now favorites to win the ninth series. Well, one thing is for sure, Team India cannot afford to lose the current Test series now.

Overall, this was India’s 16th Test win at Chepauk. Previously, the Indian team played 34 matches in Chepauk, winning 15 of them but suffering defeats in seven matches. A total of 11 games were tied, one of which was a draw. On the other hand, the Bangladesh team came here for the first time to play a test match and suffered a failure.

India’s record on home soil is excellent. The Indian team has performed well at home since 2012. Since then, India has not lost a Test match at home. This means India are unbeaten in 17 consecutive home Test series since November 2012. Bangladesh, on the other hand, comes to India after defeating Pakistan 2-0 in the series.
