You must have seen it many times in Bollywood movies where children get lost in the Kumbh Mela and grow up to meet their families after many years. The mother recognizes her son, who disappeared as a young man, and a touching scene ensues between the two. This is part of the classic story of 70’s cinema.

But story aside, when something like this happens in reality. This is the story of American Luis Armando, who had something similar happen to him. Luis Armando Albino, who disappeared 70 years ago, has finally been reunited with his family. It’s like a scene from a movie.

Let us take you back to the story. It was 1951, in California, USA. Innocent child Luis Armando Albino was playing with his brother in an Oakland park. In the evening, a woman seduces and kidnaps him, taking him to the East Coast. A couple there raised him as their own son, and his true identity was hidden for years.

The next chapter of the story begins when Louis’ niece Alida Alvekin begins searching for him. In 2020, a tongue-in-cheek online DNA test revealed a link. This test showed a match rate of 22%, but the family didn’t pay much attention. In 2024, Alida once again takes on the responsibility of finding her uncle.

Meeting my family after 70 years

More and more links were made, with old newspaper clippings, photos and DNA testing leading the family to meet Louis. On June 20, 2024, police confirmed that Lewis was still alive and had been found. Four days later, with the FBI’s assistance, Lewis returned to Oakland to visit family.

When Louis’ mother and niece saw him the next day, their eyes filled with tears of joy, Alida drove her uncle to her brother Roger’s home in Stanislaus County, where, years later, the whole family Reunion there.

This story is like a long-lost link being found, suggesting that hope never ends.
