YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he has demanded immediate action against the baseless allegations levelled by Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu against the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).

YS Jagan Reddy strongly condemned the question raised by Chief Minister Naidu on the purity of ghee used in the preparation of Tirumala Laddu. He said that these irresponsible and politically motivated remarks by Chandrababu Naidu have hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindu devotees and tarnished the sanctity of the world famous TTD.

He stressed that TTD has stringent procedures and quality checks in place to ensure the quality of raw materials used in the preparation of Prasadam. He said procurement of ghee involves an e-tendering process, NABL-certified laboratory testing and multi-level checks. He also said a similar procedure was followed when the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was in power.

YS Jagan expressed concern that these false allegations could severely damage the reputation of TTD and the trust of its devotees. He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to condemn the actions of Chandrababu Naidu and reveal the truth to restore the trust and faith of the devotees. The letter came on the occasion of the 100th day of the new government in the state, during which Chandrababu Naidu made this controversial statement at a political meeting.

Two months ago, a can of ghee was rejected due to the stringent quality control system of TTD. YS Jagan reiterated that Chandrababu Naidu’s baseless claims were aimed at diverting attention from the failures of his government and furthering his political agenda. The YSRCP chief sought the intervention of Prime Minister Modi to protect the sanctity of the Tirumala temple and avoid further hurting the sentiments of the devotees.
