Aam Aadmi Party organised ‘Janata Ki Adalat’ programme at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Talking about the programme Arvind Kejriwal said, “April 4, 2011 was the day when Anna anti-corruption movement started. We governed honestly and provided convenience to the public. Free electricity, free water, free buses for women. Free Yatra for old people. Hospitals, mohalla clinics and good schools were built. After ten years of honest work, Narendra Modi started feeling that if he wants to win from them then he should attack honesty. That’s why they levelled corruption charges against us. Our ministers and leaders were selectively put in jail.”

Former Chief Minister responds to JP Nadda’s statement
Meanwhile, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also took a pointed dig at the relationship between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Kejriwal said, “RSS is like the mother of the BJP but today the BJP is showing its eyes to its mother.” This statement by Kejriwal came in the backdrop of JP Nadda’s comments in which he reportedly said that “BJP does not need RSS”.

The comment created quite a stir in political circles, especially among those who value the close relationship between the RSS and the BJP. Kejriwal raised the question and said, “Aren’t you saddened by JP Nadda’s remarks?” He stressed that the relationship between the BJP and the RSS is deep and such comments will only damage it.

At this public meeting held at Jantar Mantar, Kejriwal also asked five important questions to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) president Mohan Bhagwat. In his questions, Kejriwal asked,

1. Is politics dangerous to democracy? “PM Modi is trying to undermine opposition leaders and topple the government by appealing to the entire country or showing fear of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Is this good for democracy in the country? Doesn’t Mohan Bhagwat think this is harmful to Indian democracy?” Kejriwal asked.

2. On the issue of inducting corrupt leaders into the BJP: Kejriwal alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has included the most corrupt leaders of the country in his party. He said, “The leaders that Modi and Amit Shah initially called corrupt were later included in the BJP. Do you imagine such a BJP? Does the RSS agree with this type of politics?”

3. The moral responsibility of the BJP: In the third question, Kejriwal said that the BJP was born from the womb of the RSS and it was the responsibility of the RSS to ensure that the BJP stayed on the right path. He asked: “Have you told Modi not to go on the wrong path? Are you happy with the way the BJP is working today?”

4. Reactions to JP Nadda’s statement: Kejriwal questioned BJP president JP Nadda’s statement that the BJP no longer needs the RSS. “RSS is like the mother of BJP. Don’t you feel pain when your own ‘son’ says this? Don’t RSS workers feel pained by this?” Kejriwal asked.

5. Questions about the 75-year rule: Questioning the 75-year retirement rule framed by the RSS and BJP, Kejriwal said, “As per this rule, senior leaders like LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi have retired but now Amit Shah is saying that this rule will not apply to Modi? Shouldn’t this rule also apply to Modi?”

Through these questions, Arvind Kejriwal raised serious questions about the relationship between BJP and RSS, the current policies of the party and the leadership role of RSS.
