The body of the deceased woman, identified as Mahalakshmi, was cut into more than 30 pieces and stuffed in a refrigerator, police said. Senior police officers arrived at the scene and set up roadblocks to block the road leading to the building, the news agency reported. The woman’s body was found in her bedroom where she lived alone.
Police: The murder happened 4-5 days ago
Police suspect that it was a murder that took place about a week ago. An investigation has been initiated into the matter. “The body of the woman was found cut into pieces and kept in a refrigerator in a house in the Vyalikarwal police station area,” said N Satish Kumar, commissioner of police, West zone. He said the murder seemed to have taken place four or five days ago.
He said the dog team and forensic experts also went to the scene to investigate. “The body has been identified and investigations are underway,” the official said. The woman was originally from another state but settled in Karnataka, the report said. Police received information that the woman was separated from her husband.
According to reports, Mahalakshmi lived in Malleswaram and worked in a shopping mall, while her husband worked in an ashram away from the city. After learning the details of the incident, he also rushed to the spot.
