Sony may be preparing for a State of Play livestream in September. According to a reliable industry insider, the PlayStation parent company may show off some of its upcoming games at the show. The company last held a State of Play livestream in May, when it provided updates on upcoming games. Sony held a PlayStation tech demo earlier this month to announce the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Expected competitions in September

Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb said on the latest episode of the Game Mess Mornings podcast on Wednesday that the next State of Play presentation will “almost certainly” take place on September 24. This update is consistent with his previous statement, when he said Sony was preparing for a State of Play live broadcast in September.

Sony has not yet announced its broadcast plans, but the company is expected to reveal the Horizon Zero Dawn remake in the coming weeks after the game appears on the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) website. The company is rumored to be developing a Horizon Zero Dawn remake in 2022.

The company may also announce a separate remake of one of its games during the State of Play livestream, according to Grubb. The presentation may also feature updates on upcoming games from third-party studios.

On September 10, Sony unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro, detailing the new console’s features and upgrades in a technical presentation. The PS5 Pro will be available for pre-order on September 26 and will be available in select markets on November 7.

Earlier this week, a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn for PS5 and PC appeared on the ESRB website. It is said that the remastered version will have better lighting and textures, improved animations, a range of accessibility features, and other quality of life improvements.

Sony has been criticized recently for its strategy of releasing remasters and remakes of several existing games. The company has released or announced remasters or remakes of relatively new games such as The Last of Us, Marvel’s Spider-Man, The Last of Us Part II, and Until Dawn.
