Actor Deepak Tijori has accused producer Vikram Khakhar of defrauding him of Rs 1.74 crore during the making of the film, a Mumbai police official said on Friday, the news agency reported. The officer said Deepak Tijori had filed a complaint against the producer at the Amboli police station on Tuesday in connection with the money scam.
Deepak Tijori stated in his complaint that Vikram Kajal had promised to help him shoot the film “Drunk” in London, for which the producer took Rs 1.74 crore from him.
Deepak Tijori also said in his complaint that whenever he inquired about the progress of the film, producer Vikram Khakhar used the delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic as an excuse. He had said that the film’s shooting in Europe had been stopped. Even after the impact of the pandemic subsided, he kept making excuses for not continuing with the film.
Deepak said that when he realised that the producers had no intention of starting the filming of “Drunk”, he demanded his money back. But when the money was not returned, the actor approached the police for help.
What does the police have to say about this matter?
The police said about the whole incident – the incident took place between March 3, 2020 and March 14 this year. Deepak had transferred the money to the producer’s account on March 3, 2020. GST was also included in the money given. The producer did not fulfill his promise and refused to return the money.
Following a complaint filed by Deepak Tijori, a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust was registered under sections of the IPC. The police are investigating the case.
