Kanauj rape case: Nawab Singh Yadav’s brother gets bail, arrested for changing statement under pressure

Kannauj: The brother of rape accused Nawab Singh Yadav got bail from the local POCSO court on Friday. Police accused Nawab Singh’s brother Niru Yadav of pressuring the rape victim’s aunt to change her statement and influence the investigation. But Niru got bail from the local POCSO court on Friday.

No evidence found against Niru Yadav

Neelu Yadav’s lawyer Rakesh Tiwari said the decision was taken after the court’s special judge Alka Yadav examined Neelu Yadav’s bail plea. Lawyer Rakesh Tiwari said the police had wrongly implicated Neelu Yadav in the case. The victim had never mentioned his name in her FIR or subsequent statement. Apart from this, there was no transaction between Neelu Yadav and the victim’s aunt or anyone else.

Nawab Singh was arrested on August 12

Tiwari further said that even during the four-hour police remand, no evidence was found to strengthen the case against Niru Yadav. Hence, Niru was finally granted bail on Friday. Here, Kanauj Police Commissioner Amit Kumar Anand said that the charge sheet in the case of Nawab Singh Yadav has been submitted to the court.

Former Samajwadi Party district president Nawab Singh Yadav was arrested on August 12 for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl on the pretext of getting a job in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh.
