The President has accepted the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal and appointed Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Along with this, the President has also approved the appointment of five ministers. Everyone has been summoned to Raj Bhavan for the swearing-in ceremony on September 21. According to sources, Atish can take the oath along with her cabinet at 4:30 pm.

In fact, after Kejriwal on Tuesday asked Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena to resign as Delhi Chief Minister, Atish had sent the resignation and government formation papers to President Draupadi Murmu for approval. Based on this, it was proposed to fix the swearing-in ceremony on September 21.

AAP MLAs met earlier this week and unanimously elected Atishi as the leader of the ruling legislature party. The new council of ministers announced by AAP includes Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Imran Hussain and new member Mukesh Ahlawat, a first-time MLA from Sultanpur Majra. Rai, Gehlot, Bhardwaj and Hussain were ministers in the outgoing Kejriwal government.

Let us tell you that Aam Aadmi Party national convener Kejriwal appeared in court on September 13 after being lodged in Tihar jail for over five months in the GST policy case. Two days later, Kejriwal unexpectedly announced that he would resign after the BJP levelled corruption charges against him. He said that he would return to the post of Chief Minister after getting the honesty certificate from the people of Delhi in the upcoming assembly elections. Following this, Kejriwal resigned and Aatish was elected as the leader in the party meet in the legislature.
