The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday seized 10 packets of suspected drugs weighing more than 12 kg from an isolated island off the coast of Jakau in Gujarat’s Kutch district. In addition to this, the security forces have seized 272 such packets, each weighing more than a kilogram, since June this year.

The BSF issued a statement in this regard, saying that the BSF patrol team found 10 packages of suspected drugs weighing about 12.40 kg on an island near the coast of Jakau.

The BSF said that 272 packets of suspected drugs have been recovered through various search operations conducted by the BSF on isolated islands off the coast of Jakau in Bhuj since June 2024. Due to the recovery, the BSF has intensified the search operations on remote islands and bays of Jakau.

Earlier, officials revealed that international smugglers may have thrown suspected drug packages into the sea out of fear of being caught by security agencies.
