The Supreme Court has issued this order regarding bulldozers

The Supreme Court on Tuesday banned demolitions, or bulldozing, until October 1. The court said it would only take action against public encroachments.

The court has issued directions to the states regarding bulldozing operations and said that they should stop glorifying bulldozing justice and only remove the encroachments according to legal procedures.

The Solicitor General said bulldozers would be used for illegal constructions only after receiving notice. In response, Justice BR Gavai said illegal constructions carried out on roads, streets, footpaths or public places would be allowed to be demolished following due process.

Let us tell you that the court said this while hearing a petition filed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind against the bulldozer demolition drive in many states including Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking before a Supreme Court bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan, lawyer Tushar Mehta said wherever demolition action was taken, it was done as per legal process. Allegations against a particular community are false. To some extent, a false narrative is being spread.

In this regard, Justice Gawai said, “We are not influenced by such claims. We have made it clear that we are not in favor of giving protection to illegal constructions. We cannot be enforcement judges. The demolition process needs to be simplified.”

Justice Vishwanathan said that whatever happens outside the court does not affect us. We are not discussing whether any particular community is being targeted. If there is even one illegal demolition, it is against the spirit of the Constitution.
