The JPC set up for Waqf Board has sought suggestions from the public through emails and written letters regarding Waqf Board Amendment Bill 2024. According to official sources from the board, the board has received 91,78,419 emails on Waqf Board Amendment Bill 2024 till September 18, 2024. Of these, the maximum capacity of the inbox is 33,43,404 emails. 12801 emails with attachments have been received and 75650 emails have been put into the spam folder. The board has received around 30 lakh written suggestions so far.

According to sources, more than 1 crore suggestions have been given to the committee through emails and written letters. The committee chairman Jagdambika Pal has met the Lok Sabha Speaker and asked for more officials to study the emails and written letters and prepare the report. According to sources, the committee chairman has sent 15 officials and employees to assist in the JPC report.

According to sources, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni and Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh had a heated debate at the JPC meeting. BJP MP Medha Kulkarni accused Sanjay Singh of talking to her in a derogatory manner.

According to sources, the MPs present at the JPC meeting said that during the meeting, AAP MP Sanjay Singh made comments about Medha Kulkarni, due to which she was very upset and emotional. Sanjay Singh also apologized to Medha Kulkarni after the committee chairperson Jagdambika Pal intervened during the lunch hour of the meeting. Medha Kulkarni told the committee chairperson that she was insulted during the meeting and Sanjay Singh should have apologized during the meeting. BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal said in the meeting that if the sources are to be believed, there are rumours that if the bill is passed by the parliament, then all mosques will be demolished and the land of mosques will be occupied. Rumours should not be spread like this.
