Rajouri, September 19: Senior BJP leader and Indian Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today said that by the end of next year 2025, roads in Jammu and Kashmir will be on par with those in the United States.

Addressing a public rally in Budhar area of ​​Rajouri district, Gadkari mentioned a series of road, highway and especially tunnel projects implemented by the Indian government in Jammu and Kashmir over the past decade.

“Before the BJP came to power, there were only three tunnels in Jammu and Kashmir and now the number of tunnels has increased manifold, which reflects our commitment to public welfare,” he said.

The Union Minister said some tunnel projects have been completed while others are ongoing, besides several new projects are in the pipeline. “We will completely transform Jammu and Kashmir, this is my promise to all the people,” he said, adding, “By the end of 2025, all highways in Jammu and Kashmir will be in sync with the US.” Gadkari said the tender for the Mughal Road Tunnel will be launched soon

The BJP leader also stressed on the importance of creating livelihood through tourism and said that best efforts would be made to tap the tourism potential of the region and create a tourism corridor from Shri Mata Vaishnoo Devi temple to Kashmir via Buddal as demanded by the locals.

Earlier, Zulfikar Ali, the PPP candidate for Buddar constituency, briefed the federal minister on the topography of the area, its tourism potential and the absence of some important road projects in the area during the meeting.
