Recently, Anna Sebastian Peryil (26), a female employee of Ernst & Young in Pune, died. After Anna’s sudden death, her mother wrote an open letter to the company, blaming excessive workload. Now, the company has issued a statement to clarify. Rajiv Memani, chairman of Ernst & Young India, on Thursday refuted the claim that “workload” was the reason for Anna’s death. The company issued this statement after the letter written by the victim’s mother went viral on social media.

Speaking on the issue, Chairman Rajeev Memani said, “Anna was assigned the same work as other employees and he also ruled out the possibility that the workload may have led to the death of the woman employee.”

“We don’t think it’s a lot of work…”

Indian Express According to reports, Rajiv Memani said: “We have about one lakh employees. There is no doubt that everyone has to work hard. Anna has only worked with us for four months and she was not treated the same as other employees. For the amount of work he got, we don’t think this workload would have taken his life.” Memani also condoled the death of Anna and called it an irreparable loss for EY India and all its employees.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the company’s chairman said, “Anna had worked in the audit team of SR Batliboi, a member firm of E&Y Global in Pune, for four months, having joined the firm on March 18, 2024. Her career has come to an end. We, however, have no measures that can compensate for the loss that the family has experienced and, as always, we have provided every support in times of crisis like this and will continue to do so.”

India will continue to look for ways to improve,” he said.
