The ongoing war between the BJP and the Uttar Pradesh Samajwadi Party over the Ayodhya defeat is gradually turning into a war for Mirkipur and Kajal.

Milkipur is the seat from which Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad once served as MLA, while Mainpuri’s Karhal assembly seat is the one that fell vacant after Akhilesh Yadav arrived in the assembly from Kannauj.

First, 10 seats in UP will go to by-elections, but Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s focus is only visible on Milkypur and Karhal. The Karhal parliamentary seat is in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, from which Dimple Yadav is currently the MP.

In the by-elections, the Samajwadi Party and the Congress will fight together like in the Lok Sabha elections, while the BJP will contest alone — but these by-elections have become the pride and glory of the BJP due to the Ayodhya debacle.

And because of these by-elections, the war of words between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and former Chief Minister Akhilsh Yadav has been intensifying.

Recently, Akhilesh Yadav had said, “There is no difference between leaders and mafia” – and then what, Yogi Adityanath too started again in the style of “…will cool down”.

Yogi is just looking for opportunities

From Mirkipur to Kajal, Yogi Adityanath is not leaving any chance to attack and criticise the Samajwadi Party, its leaders and its time in power. He is working in any possible way to keep these two seats in the BJP’s kitty.

At a function held in the rain at Ghantaghar Ramlila Maidan in Ghaziabad, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sought to put Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav in the dock. He said whenever the public trusted the Congress and Samajwadi Party and gave them power, they started using the power against the public… Before 2017, when there was a duopoly government in the state and the Centre, they used the power given to them by the Congress and started using it like Bhasmasur. In the 2017 elections, the SP and the Congress formed an alliance and ran a ‘Uttarakhand Boys’ campaign.

Yogi Adityanath also attacked Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks on abbots and mafia.Yogi Adityanath claimed that the spirit of Aurangzeb has entered the body of the SP leader.
Further, he referred to the SP government era and said that 10 years ago, when there was no BJP government, the entire state was in a state of anarchy… women were not safe and those sitting in government used to bow before the goonda collectors… they were migrating but now the goons are in a panic and women and traders feel safe.

SP leader’s clarification on abbot and mafia

After Yogi Adityanath’s counterattack, Akhilesh Yadav also held a press conference and expressed his views, mainly to provide clarifications.

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had said, “There is no difference between leaders and mafia” but without naming him and targeting Yogi Adityanath, but now he has clarified.

Now Akhilesh Yadav said that if the Chief Minister understood the word Mathadhish in a different way, then I would say Mathadhish is the Chief Minister…I have not said anything against any Dharmacharya or Mahant.

Although Akhilesh Yadav won the Faizabad seat in the Lok Sabha elections, Yogi Adityanath considered Mirkipur as his prestige and ran an aggressive campaign, Akhilesh Yadav also knew that accidents could happen once precautions were taken away.
