Anupam Mittal, founder and director of Shaadi.com and investor in Shark Tank India, responded to a LinkedIn post by Indigo CEO Pieter Elbers about how India is like home for Indigo.

CEO Pieter Elbers’s view on India

Indigo’s CEO highlighted his two years in India in a post last week, focusing on its beauty and how the country made him feel at home.

“One of the quotes I shared when I joined was, ‘Wherever you go, it becomes a part of you in some way’. Being a part of IndiGo and living in India for two years now… IndiGo and this beautiful country India have indeed become a part of me. Bharat ab ghar jaisa lagta hai,” said Pieter Elbers.

“Today, I celebrate two years with IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd) and in India. Last month, on IndiGo’s 18th anniversary, we celebrated many wonderful milestones and unveiled ambitious plans for the coming years,” Elbers said in a post last week.

According to information posted by executives on LinkedIn about the airline’s flights, the company operates more than 2,000 flights per day on more than 430 domestic routes and more than 100 international routes, and that number is rising every day.

Peter Elbers visited 30 of the 88 Indian cities covered and met with his team, from Thiruvananthapuram in the south to Leh in the north. In Leh, Elbers shared his experience hiking with his son over the 18,000-foot Khatun La Pass. “This was very special, as my native country’s highest ‘mountain’ is only about 300 meters, and about 25% of the land is below sea level,” he wrote in his post. “The essence of India is reflected in its beautiful diversity,” he said.
