Local Chief Executive purchases alcohol: The district magistrate Savin Bansal took the complaints about excessive prices and irregularities in liquor vendors in Dehradun strictly seriously and decided to investigate it himself. The district magistrate drove himself in his car without any staff and went to a shop and queued up to buy liquor like a normal buyer. He bought a bottle of McDowell’s, which was fixed at Rs 660, but was charged Rs 680.

Once the incident came to the attention of the administration, it created a stir among the liquor traders in the city. On the instructions of the district magistrate, immediate action was taken and a massive raid was conducted in the district. Sub-divisional magistrate Hari Giri raided a liquor store in Chuna Bhatta and found that the store was overrated and had many irregularities. A bottle of beer worth Rs 200 was sold to a customer for Rs 210, which was Rs 10 more than the fixed price.

According to management, the store manager has acknowledged in writing that he made a mistake and that it will not happen again. The inspection also found that the price list was not posted in the correct position, making it difficult for consumers to see the price. Watch video of the attack:-

Additionally, the store did not post opening and closing times, employees did not have ID cards, and did not use a metering machine. Cutting and fluids were used in register, and the cleaning system was not satisfactory.

The contract at Old Mussoorie Road was invoiced for Rs 50,000, the lime kiln workshop was invoiced for Rs 75,000, the Survey Chowk was invoiced for Rs 75,000 and the contract at Jakhan was invoiced for Rs 50,000.

The district judge also found during the inspection that the salesperson’s behavior was extremely rude towards the consumers. The action was taken after the district judge had been receiving complaints about over-ratings for a long time.

It’s too early to act, and alcohol sellers are also blatantly violating the rules?

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered strict action against the liquor mafia in the state following the attack on journalist Yogesh Dimri. The attack has raised questions about illegal liquor trade and mafia activities associated with it in the state.

Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, the excise department and the administration conducted raids in Haridwar, Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Violations such as over-rating and sale of illegal liquor were found at several places. Following this, challans were issued to many shops and cases were registered against the liquor mafia.

Now, after the action of the Dehradun magistrate, it is shocking to know that controlling the liquor mafia and over-rating of liquor is a difficult task.
