Senior BJP leader and Jammu North constituency candidate Sham Lal Sharma today launched a ruthless attack on the National Congress (NC), saying the Kashmir-based party has lost its credibility and base even in the Valley and the seats it will get from Kashmir alone will be reduced to 12 to 15. The party may not be able to make a breakthrough in Jammu region.

Addressing a series of election meetings in Jammu North constituency, Sham said that BJP Vice President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was contesting from two seats in Kashmir but he himself was not confident of even one seat and hence he chose to contest from two safe seats. In the current elections, BJP will face a crushing defeat due to its poor performance and anti-people policies in Jammu and Kashmir for decades. Slamming BJP President and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah, Sham said that the two had a chance to serve the people for the longest time but instead of fulfilling their promises, they cheated the people in the name of development and welfare. They worked only for their personal interests and party cadres, promoted sectarianism, regionalism, separatism and nepotism, misled the common people and blackmailed the central government for free flow of funds.

Now, they are all unhappy with the election results and have started unnecessary propaganda against other political outfits in Jammu Kashmir, Sham asserted. Sham further pointed out that the people of Jammu Kashmir, especially the Valley, are tired of their empty slogans, false promises and poor performance and will completely reject them and elect a new government led by the BJP, which can only ensure good governance, peace, security and equitable development in Jammu Kashmir. The people are deeply inspired by the programmes and policies of Prime Minister Narender Modi and will clearly mandate the BJP to form an exclusive government here.

Spelling out the BJP’s agenda for the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir, Sham said the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken several initiatives in the last over a decade to restore lasting peace and all-round development. He added that after the abrogation of Article 370, the situation on the ground has changed significantly and law and order is largely normal and all development activities are going on normally in all the districts. Eminent personalities who attended the meeting and spoke on the occasion included Mandal Adhyaksh Rakesh Singh, Swatch Bharat Abhiyan convener Er. Dil Bahadur Singh, KD Singh, former village headman Raj Dev Singh, Kuljeet Singh, Ritu Devi, Hari Saran and BJP leader Zorawar Singh.
