In a horrific incident, a two-year-old girl was raped at her home in a village in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, the police have registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Judiciary Code and the POCSO Act.
Police officer Rupali Rao said the accused has been arrested. He has been identified as Shiv Kumar (50). The accused was a tenant in the victim’s house. Before the incident, the victim was playing at home. It was then that the accused came there and made the girl a victim of his lust.
Since then, the accused has been absconding. The victim’s family members took her to Naimandi police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 65 (2) of the Indian Judiciary Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act). The accused’s family members have also been arrested.
Two sentenced to life imprisonment for gang rape of minor
A special court in Muzaffarnagar on Wednesday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for kidnapping and gang-raping a 15-year-old girl in 2011. The court of special judge Manjula Bhalotia also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convicts.
Special government counsel Pradeep Baliyan said the court found the two accused in the case, Darshan and Vanshi, guilty under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Following this, both were sentenced to life imprisonment.
The government lawyer said the incident took place on September 14, 2011 in a village under Purkaji police station in the district. The victim was on her way to school. Meanwhile, the accused stopped her on her way. They took her to a nearby sugarcane field where they covered her mouth with a dupatta and gang-raped her.
