UP: Two sentenced to life imprisonment for gang rape of minor, court fines Rs 50,000

The court sentenced the two accused to life imprisonment in the case of a Class 10 girl student who was abducted and gang-raped in her village in Purkaji area of ​​Muzaffarnagar district in 2011. Special Additional Sessions Judge Manjula Bhalotia, presiding judge of POCSO Act No. 1, made the ruling.

Special government lawyer Pradeep Baliyan said the court of special judge Manjula Bhalotya convicted Darshan and Vanshi under sections 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, among others. The trial of the case was held in a fast-track court with ADJC Pradeep Sharma appearing for the prosecution and nine witnesses appearing in the court.

Gang rape defendant sentenced to life imprisonment

Apart from this, Special Government Counsel Pradeep Baliyan said that besides life imprisonment, a fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed on each accused. The entire amount will be given to the victim. The incident took place on September 14, 2011 in a village under Purkaji police station.

The court fined the accused between Rs 50,000 and Rs 50,000.

Bajan said the girl was stopped on her way to school and the accused dragged her to a nearby sugarcane field. The gang rape was carried out by covering her mouth with a scarf. The victim’s family expressed satisfaction with the court’s verdict.
