In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, the GRP arrested two smugglers with 5 kg of opium. The estimated price of this opium in the market is said to be around Rs 75 lakh. The opium was being transported to Chandigarh from Ranchi.

In fact, today (August 18) the GRP caught two smugglers in the circulation area of ​​Cantt Railway Station in Varanasi. During the search, 5 kg of opium was recovered from him. After that, he was arrested. During the interrogation, he narrated the whole process of smuggling.

According to reports, the market value of the seized opium is estimated to be around Rs 75 lakh. Shravan Kumar (20) is a smuggler from Chhatra district in Jharkhand. Meanwhile, his companion Anees Kumar Dangi, 21, is also a resident of the same area. The two knew each other.

The borders were heavily guarded due to the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana. In this context, it was suspected that the drugs were being brought to Chandigarh from other states. But before that, the smugglers were caught by the police.

According to GRP officer Kunwar Pratap Singh, the arrested smugglers informed that a person named Santosh supplied two packets of opium in Ranchi. He reached Varanasi by bus. Then, they had to go to Moradabad from Varanasi Cantt railway station and from there to Chandigarh. They had to deliver the opium there but before that both of them were arrested. Further investigation is being carried out with the help of CCTV.
