Angry mob attacks Kolkata traffic police, three policemen injured

Kolkata traffic police have once again been attacked while on duty. Around 10:50 pm, the Park Circus traffic guards were attacked by an angry mob. The attack took place when they were conducting naka check and three officers were injured in the attack. Sergeant Kotuk Ghosh, a constable and a citizen volunteer were injured.

According to police sources, the naka check was conducted by Superintendent of Police Kotuk Ghosh. Meanwhile, a person identified as Bubai Hazra, a local resident, was caught in an inebriated state at Christopher Road in the Topsia police station area.

Hazra clashed with the police and called his accomplices and created havoc there.

Within minutes, a mob of 20 to 30 people reached there and attacked the traffic police. In this attack, Sergeant Kotuk Ghosh suffered severe injuries to his head and neck and his motorcycle was also damaged.

The injured officer was immediately taken to Chittaranjan Medical College and Hospital and has been discharged after treatment. Inspector Kutuk Ghosh has filed a written complaint with Topsia police station. Based on this, a case has been registered in various departments. The main accused Bubai Hazra has been arrested and will appear in court today seeking police remand.
