President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday said increasing participation of women in research and development is crucial for social and economic progress of the country and improving the quality of life of women.

She also called on the youths to shape the country with their education and determination while speaking at the 18th convocation ceremony of the Malawi National Institute of Technology (MNIT).

“Of the 20 gold medals I awarded today, 12 were won by girls. The proportion of girls among the winners proves that if they are given equal opportunities, they can achieve relatively higher achievements,” she said.
“Greater participation of women in the field of research and development is important not only for the social and economic development of the country, but also for improving the quality of life of our daughters,” she said.
Murmu said India aims to become a developed country by 2047.

“You have the responsibility to lead the country. You have to take the country forward,” she said. (PTI)
