The Mi 14T series is scheduled to be launched in Berlin on September 26. As the successor to the Mi 13T series launched in November 2023, the company’s latest smartphones may offer artificial intelligence (AI) features, including Circle to Search – Google’s visual search tool, which was launched with the Galaxy S24 series in January. The phones may also come with several other AI features powered by Google’s Gemini Large Language Model (LLM).
Xiaomi Mi 14T series circle search
According to leaked promotional materials obtained by Spillsomebeans, the Xiaomi Mi 14T and Mi 14T Pro will be equipped with a “circle search” feature. This feature allows users to highlight an area on the screen by circling the text and switching its visual search on the web. It can be activated by long pressing the home button or navigation button, and supports operations such as doodling, circling, or drawing on objects and text on the screen.
The feature debuted in January with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and rolled out to Google Pixel smartphones in the weeks and months that followed. However, they remain the only phones to come with the feature. Reports suggest that will change with the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 14T series.
In addition to the Circle to Search feature, the Xiaomi Mi 14T and Mi 14T Pro will reportedly come with four other AI-powered features: AI Notes, AI Translate, AI Subtitles, and AI Voice Recorder. AI Notes will allegedly use cloud-based AI to provide AI summaries, AI Translate, and other features in the Notes app. Meanwhile, AI Translate may offer real-time translation capabilities for face-to-face interactions, calls, or meetings. Both smartphones will also reportedly come with enhanced accessibility features like AI Subtitles and AI Voice Recorder.
Presumably, Google’s Gemini LLM will support the above functionality.
The leaked promotional materials further suggest that the Xiaomi Mi 14T will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The latter will be expandable via a microSD card. It will reportedly be equipped with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W HyperCharge, which can charge the device from zero to 100% in just 45 minutes.
