Firozabad: Five people, including women and two children, killed in blast at illegal firecracker factory

An explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, killed five people and seriously injured 11 others, including a woman and two children. In addition, six houses nearby also collapsed. After 15 hours of rescue, 11 people were rescued from the rubble. Five bodies were cremated on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, a case was registered against firecracker manufacturer and seller Bhura alias Navi Abdullah and his two sons based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s son. The house where the blast took place belonged to Prem Singh Kushwaha and was completely razed to the ground, SHO Pradeep Kumar Singh told PTI on Tuesday. The house was rented by Bhura, who manufactured and sold the goods. No one was injured in the house where the blast took place.

Apart from this, Pradeep Kumar Singh said that based on the complaint of Pawan Kushwaha, son of late Meera Devi Kushwaha, a case has been registered against Bhulla and his two sons Taj and Raja under relevant sections of the NSA and Explosives Act.

Pawan Kushwaha told the police in his complaint that Bhura alias Navi Abdullah was engaged in firecracker business in Nowshera village for a long time. Bhura and his sons Taj, Raja and others collected a large number of firecrackers as part of the conspiracy. As part of the conspiracy, the three ignited the explosives and fled.

The police registered a case against the accused and started investigation

Meera Devi (45), Aman Kushwaha (17), Gautam Kushwaha (16), Kumari Ichha (4) and Abhinay (2) died in the incident. Circle officials said the two children were siblings and their identities were confirmed based on the information received from the district hospital.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has directed the district administration officials to properly treat the injured and also instructed the district administration officials to speed up the rescue work.
