Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) president Ghulam Nabi Azad today said he would bring Jammu and Kashmir back on track within six months if his party wins the elections.

Azad today held a mega road show in support of party candidate Mjid Wani in Doda city, making a fervent appeal for unity and urging an end to decades of false slogan politics in Jammu and Kashmir.
The former chief minister criticised the political parties for shouting empty slogans over the years, which resulted in the loss of countless lives and hampered the development of the region. He stressed that these misleading promises only widened the gap between the people and progress. Recalling his tenure as chief minister, he highlighted the significant progress made in infrastructure and development under his leadership.
Azad asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve real progress, not empty rhetoric. “Today, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are not asking for slogans, they are asking for free ration, reliable electricity, job opportunities, quality education and better healthcare. These are the priorities,” Azad asserted.
“We have been hearing these slogans since I was in college and they do nothing but exploit the people. When political parties come to power, they use these slogans as an excuse for their poor development,” Azad added.
He further said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are often naive, uninformed and misled by these narratives, but it is time to see through this political game.
“Times have changed. We must realise that these slogans are only meant to benefit those who want to seize power and once in power they will not do anything for the people,” he added.
Azad further said that if given another chance, his party would focus on large-scale development work in the region and ensure real progress and prosperity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said his party was the only one that actively opposed the land eviction order while other parties did not seem to care.
He said the issue was crucial as more than seven million people were at risk of losing their land. “We stopped the bulldozers,” Azad insisted, stressing the party’s commitment to protecting people’s rights. He also criticised other political parties for avoiding discussing development issues and instead resorting to spreading false narratives to create fear.
“People are more aware now,” he said, urging citizens to question the parties’ performance while in power.
“What development have they brought to Jammu and Kashmir during their tenure?” he asked. Azad further raised the worrying issue of drug addiction among the youth and questioned why no political party was addressing this pressing issue.
“This is a much more important issue that affects the future of our society,” he said.
Reiterating his commitment to helping the underprivileged, the former chief minister announced a slew of ambitious initiatives to empower the poor. His key promises included revival of the ‘Roshni scheme’ for electrification, a new scholarship scheme for poor students, free education and focus on job creation.
“I have 22 loyal candidates whose aim is to become a strong political force capable of forming a government and serving the people,” Azad declared.
