Many Republicans were also not confident about their candidate’s performance in the debate held in Philadelphia. 53 percent of Republican voters surveyed said Trump won the debate, while 91 percent of Democrats said he was the winner. Among Republicans, 31 percent said no one won and 14 percent said Harris defeated Trump.

Will Trump’s age become an issue?

According to Nielsen data, the debate, hosted by ABC News, attracted 67.1 million television viewers, more than the roughly 51 million who watched Trump’s debate with then-candidate President Joe Biden in June. Biden’s poor performance in that debate led many Democrats to call for him not to run for re-election. Trump is now the oldest candidate in the race and the survey found that 52 percent of voters consider Trump too old to serve in government, while 7 percent said the same about Harris.
